Ahmed Sékou Touré was a politician in Guinea (previously French Guinea) who worked with other politicians to found the African Democratic Rally and was elected to the French National Assembly. Touré helped to lead Guinea’s campaign for independence from France and served for 26 years as the newly independent country’s first president.
