Summary
Queenie by Candice Carty-Williams is a novel about a young Black woman in her mid-20s who was born and raised in London. The story follows her through the ups and downs of a year of her life, much of it spurred on by her relationship drama and personal issues. I’m gonna be honest with you, there were points where I did not like this book. I didn’t care for the character and I just could not get with some of her life decisions. But I continued to push through the book because I felt like the author was ramping up to something deeper behind the story. And I’m glad that I read it through to the end. Now, that doesn’t mean that the book is flawless but I think that the ending of the book was pretty redemptive for some of the problematic parts in the middle.
